How billing works at En Contacto

Everything about paying us, and what happens if you stop. We'd rather you knew all of this before you paid, not after. So here it is in plain language.

We'd rather you knew all of this before you paid, not after. So here it is in plain language.

The plans

Free — one digital card and basic analytics. No card details required.

Pro Individual — $7 a month, or $72 a year, which works out at $6 a month. For one person: unlimited cards*, all twelve templates, lead capture, wallet passes, offline event mode, advanced analytics, Zapier, and the email signature generator.

Team Workspace — from $10 per person per month, with a minimum of three people. So the smallest team plan is $30 a month. Annually it's $8 per person per month. Everything in Pro, plus brand controls, team-wide lead capture, one-click updates across every card, and one invoice for everyone.

Enterprise — priced by contract. Adds single sign-on, subteams, a company directory, field locking, a dedicated success manager and an SLA. That's a conversation, not a checkout.

About "unlimited"

Pro includes unlimited cards for your own use, with a fair-use limit of 15. If you genuinely need more for yourself, ask and we'll raise it — there's no charge and no fixed ceiling.

If you're managing cards for other people, that's what a Team Workspace is for.

The one thing that isn't in any plan

A custom domain is $199 a year, on top of whatever plan you're on. It costs us money every month, so it's never bundled into a plan — or into a lifetime deal.

Who actually charges you

Payments go through Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record. That means two practical things:

  • Your card statement will read PADDLE* ENCONTACTO, not En Contacto on its own. That's not a mistake, and it's the most common thing people write to us about.
  • Paddle handles VAT and sales tax for your country, so your invoice is correct wherever you are.

The payment terms are Paddle's buyer terms.

Adding and removing seats

Adding a seat charges you immediately for the rest of the current billing period, prorated. The new person can start straight away.

Removing a seat puts the unused value on your account as credit. It isn't refunded to your card. That credit comes off future invoices we raise for that subscription — your renewal, or a later plan or seat change.

One thing that surprises people: credit isn't applied when you buy something new, such as an add-on. That goes through a separate checkout and is charged in full. The credit isn't lost — it comes off your next renewal instead — but it won't shortcut a new purchase, so it's worth knowing if you're timing one.

You can't reduce below three seats, or below the number of people currently using one, pending invitations included. Remove members first if you need fewer seats.

If a payment fails

You don't lose access while Paddle retries. Nothing switches off, your cards stay live, and we email you so you can update your card.

If it's never resolved, the subscription eventually ends and you move to the free plan. Nothing is deleted — everything in the next section applies.

We'd rather email you than break your business card in the middle of a working week.

If you cancel

This is the part most companies are vague about, so we'll be specific.

Nothing is deleted.

Your cards switch off — anyone visiting sees a short page saying the card isn't currently active — but the cards themselves stay exactly where they are. Your links, your QR codes and your encontacto.io addresses all keep working the moment you re-subscribe. You don't have to rebuild anything, and printed QR codes don't become worthless.

The exception: custom domains

If you were paying for a custom domain, that one ends with your plan. It runs to the end of the year you've already paid for, and we email you the date it stops — but it doesn't renew, and re-subscribing later doesn't bring it back. You'd buy it again.

That matters most for anything physical. A QR code or NFC tag printed against your own domain stops resolving when the domain lapses. Anything on an encontacto.io address is unaffected.

On the free plan

One card stays live and you choose which. Until you choose, it's your oldest one, so nothing goes dark while you decide.

That choice is final while you're on the free plan. It's the card you keep, not a switch for rotating through five of them. It resets if you subscribe again.

Your contacts

Your leads are held for 30 days, and we'll remind you at ten days, one week and three days before that runs out.

For those 30 days you can download every contact you collected as a spreadsheet — on the free plan, without paying anything. They're your contacts, and we're not going to hold them to make you pay. After 30 days they're deleted.

Add-ons

Add-ons you bought separately — Zapier, advanced lead capture, removing our branding — are their own subscriptions. They keep working and keep billing after you cancel your plan, so cancel those too if you don't want them.

The custom domain is the exception: we end that one for you, because it can't work without a plan behind it.

Lifetime deals

If you bought a lifetime deal, it's yours for as long as we run En Contacto, and we've committed to at least three years from the date you bought it. If we discontinued the service inside that window, we'd refund the unexpired part of those three years, pro rata. That commitment is in our Terms of Service.

We don't offer paid subscriptions to lifetime accounts, so you shouldn't be able to buy one by accident. If it somehow happens, we're alerted automatically and your lifetime entitlement is recorded, so we can put it back — but talk to us first rather than finding out later.

If you have a lifetime plan and you need something it doesn't cover — more seats, a team workspace — contact us first. We'll look at the options with you rather than let you lose the deal by accident.

Paying by invoice

If your finance team can't pay by card, we can issue a pro-forma invoice you can pay by bank transfer. This is common for agencies, clinics and anyone with a procurement process.

Just contact us and we'll send one.

Changing your plan

You can switch plans at any time from your account. Before you confirm, we show you exactly what happens: what you'll be charged today, what your next invoice will be, and what any credit is worth.

If you're upgrading mid-cycle, you pay the difference for the time remaining, charged straight away.

Downgrading works differently, and it's worth understanding properly:

  1. The change is immediate. You're on the cheaper plan right away.
  2. The money is not. The unused value of your old plan becomes a credit line on your next invoice, rather than a balance sitting on your account.
  3. So if you cancel before that invoice is raised, the invoice is never created and the credit is never applied.

We show you the date that invoice falls on, so you can see what you'd be giving up before you decide.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account permanently from Settings. This removes every card you've created and the links to them, so anyone holding your card link will no longer be able to open it.

Your subscription is cancelled at the end of the period you've already paid for, so nothing renews — but that remaining time isn't refunded.

Export your leads first. This can't be undone.

Refunds

You can get a full refund on any subscription or lifetime plan within 14 days of your first purchase, for any reason. Your money goes back to the payment method you used. The details are in our Refund Policy.

After 14 days we're not usually able to refund a purchase, but you can still ask — email us and we'll look at it.

If something goes wrong, write to us. We'd rather sort it out than argue about it.
