Forty conversations in two days, and no signal
Show floors have terrible reception and no time for typing. Event Mode captures contacts on a device with no connection at all and syncs them when you are back online.
The problem
The bowl of cards you deal with on the plane home
Two days on a stand produces a stack of paper, a phone full of photographs of badges, and a notebook. None of it is a contact list yet. Somebody has to type it all in, usually days later, by which point the notes that would have made a lead useful — what they wanted, which product, when to call — are gone.
And the honest constraint nobody mentions: the Wi-Fi at a stand is unusable and the mobile signal in an exhibition hall is worse. Any tool that needs a connection at the moment of capture will fail you exactly when the hall is busiest.
Why it fits this job
Built for the part of the job that actually goes wrong
It works with no connection
Event Mode holds captures in the browser on that device and syncs them when you are back online. No signal at the stand does not cost you a single contact.
Hand the tablet over safely
Event Mode turns a page of your dashboard into a plain capture form and shows nothing else of your account — not your leads, not your billing, not your other cards. It is a kiosk you can leave on the counter.
Notes while you still remember
Each capture takes a note as well as the contact details, so what they asked about is recorded next to who they were, rather than reconstructed from a photograph of a badge a week later.
In practice
Two days on a stand
Set the stand tablet to Event Mode in the morning. Visitors type their own details, which removes both the transcription and the handwriting, and you add a line about what they came for. Your own phone keeps your card ready — a wallet pass shows your QR code with no signal at all, which a browser bookmark cannot do.
On the train home, sync. Every contact lands in your dashboard already typed, and in your CRM as well if you have connected one. You can export the lot as a CSV the same evening while the follow-up still means something.
More on lead captureQuestions before a show
- Does it really work with no internet at all?
- Yes. Captures are stored in that browser and a Sync button sends them up once you are back online. One caution worth taking seriously: do not close or clear that browser before syncing, because the contacts are held on the device until you do.
- Can several people on the stand capture at once?
- Yes — each person uses Event Mode on their own device, and on a Team plan everything lands in the same workspace inbox with the member and card that captured it. That is also how you see which of your staff worked the floor hardest.
- What if I do not want visitors seeing my dashboard?
- They cannot. Event Mode shows the capture form and nothing else — no leads list, no settings, no billing. It is designed to be handed to a stranger.
- Do I need special scanning hardware?
- No. You need the device you already have. If you want a physical card or badge that opens your profile on a tap, any standard NFC tag works and we do not sell them — buy whichever you like.
- What does it cost to run one show?
- Event Mode is included in every paid plan — Pro at $7 a month, or Team at $10 per seat per month with a three-seat minimum. There is no per-event or per-lead charge, and you can cancel after the show; your contacts are held for 30 days and the CSV export never locks.
